Ladies, what were you *thinking*?!
Now, anyone who knows me, knows that the two women I am most likely to pay any attention to are Debbie Harry and Daphne Guinness, particularly for punk-rock cool and devastatingly dramatic inspiration respectively. Imagine my disappointment when I saw what these two beautiful ladies managed to put together for Calvin Klein High Line party a couple of days ago:

Let’s not argue here; the immaculate Daphne never looks anything less than spectacular. I have never seen her wear something I did not covet. Until I saw this. Here, Daphne is wearing Proenza Schouler, which definitely doesn’t work. This lacey, patchy blue number is just peculiar, looks itchy and the vague attempt to match it with the purple shoes is so wrong. Even the belt is dubious. The look is only rescued by the gorgeous armour jewellery DG is so fond of and heavenly smoky-eyed make up. Stick to black and white, Daph… you know it makes sense.
As for the lovely Deborah Harry, well, she’s prone to making ‘creative’ mistakes so this actually isn’t that bad. (Stop wearing orange. That IS bad.) Here, the Mrs Lovett-esque bustle skirt is almost acceptable, but the high street shoes and denim jacket just ruin it, not to mention that her hair appears to have been caught in a storm (she clearly forgot about the umberella on her back). Didn’t she learn anything from Sprouse?!
I suppose this just proves that icons are only human. And of course, it’s only fashion after all.
I’m off for a lie-down…
