how does your garden grow…?
Recently, in propagators indoors, I have sown several modules of tomatoes, jalapeno chillies and sweet peppers. Outdoors, my onions, leeks and carrots (all sown under cloches last month) all appear to have taken well – the little seedlings are already more than an inch high! Perhaps it was a little early to sow the mixed salad leaves outdoors in the ‘salad bowl’ pot, but they seem to have germinated ok… A batch of chitted Maris Piper seed potatoes have been planted too.
As soon as this bloody weather improves, I’ll get on with sowing spring onions and beetroot too. Most of all though, I am really looking forward to cracking on with the sweetcorn – the seeds have just started sprouting! I can eat so much of this stuff and it’s so damn expensive in the shops. Roll on April!
My chilli plant, from last summer, seems to be growing again. It is still in the large pot in the kitchen. (There were two plants in the pot; one plant has died over winter and needs to be removed). Does anyone know whether the surviving plant will grow properly again this year, bearing more chillies? Or should I remove it and start from scratch again?? ANY advice would be very much appreciated!
On the flower front, my spring troughs full of lilac and pink hyacinths, daffodils, snowdrops and bluebells are all looking gorgeous! And the utterly yummy candy-pink primroses in the pot and the window box are looking oh-so pretty! Now, I can’t *wait* for the summer so I can see how my roses turn out, and also how all those fruit plants turn out.
